Our roots date back to 1890, when Pere Bellsolà Beltran set up the first bakery in the city of Girona, the first chapter of a saga of bakers who passed down the values of quality and professional pride from generation to generation, but with the audacity of adapting to changing times, needs and tastes.
Years later, in the 1970s, Pere Bellsolà Fonalleras was the first to introduce the technology of pre-cooked bread into Spain, based on his adaptation of the frozen dough technique he'd learnt in France, while continuing to offer quality bread. This breakthrough enhanced bakers' quality of life while maintaining the key elements for a good product: fermentation and the quality of the raw materials.
During the last two decades of the 20th century, Bellsolà modernised its facilities to adapt production capacity to demand. It installed automatic production lines for baked goods and ciabatta bread while remaining true to its founding philosophy.
